How’s everything folks? Montagna writing here and as this is my first post I believe some sort of introduction is in order. My name is Leonardo Colombo, but my friends call me Montagna. I work as a bank employee and I’m a natural born gamer. I’m a complete addict to games be they electronic ones, board ones, strategy or role playing ones. I came across the fantastic world of little plastic figures back in 2009 and on the very same year began collecting Space Marines and got completely hooked by Warhammer 40K.

Since then I have invested time and money into the hobby, but being honest, I’m a frustrated and ineffective artist so most of my miniatures are assembled and primed at most.

I admit being more interested in the game itself and its history, or as we call it: The fluff.

Having said that, I now officially begin my participation on the “A Tale of X Gamers” here on the “The Painting Frog” blog with my first article and its considerations.

The sixth edition of the rules came out little over a month ago and by now I must have read the rulebook at least twice and perused its pages countless times. My initial impression was “What the hell have they done?” but I must admit I was being rash as, like most people, I’m not fond of conceptual changes.

I can now say that this new edition has brought strategy as a factor back into the game as things which were mechanic on the previous edition of the rules are now much more important, like moving, for example. The choice of weapons and how unites behave on the table has also been changed, especially for highly mechanized armies like those I was used to creating.

Well, let’s move onto the army I have chosen. Before 6th edition became a reality I had already imagined the kind of army I’d build and I haven’t changed my mind much. The things I thought fundamental were:

Tanks – The list must have as many tanks as possible

Dreadnoughts – Yes, I like them so they had to be a part of the list too.

Shooting army – So far I had only played with Blood Angles, an army normally focused on close combat, so I wanted something “shootier”.

As I’m a Space Marine fan I looked at my options to find the army which appealed the most to me and the Grey Knights offered me tanks galore, overpowered dreadnoughts and cruel assassins. OMFG! That’s perfect.

However I didn’t want an army full of Terminators as there’s other armies like that in the gaming club I’m a member and repetition isn’t something nice on a small community like ours so what should I do? Well, the new Grey Knights Codex almost killed the Inquisitorial Army concept, but I did use “almost” as there’s a certain character in that book that allows me to play a Grey Knights army without having to include Terminators or Space Marines in power armor.

With all pre-requisites fulfilled how should I move ahead? What about building a competitive list for the new edition of the fame? Well let’s see what I can come up with using Army Builder (if you’re not familiar with it, Army Builder is a computer program developed by Lone Wolf Development used by a lot of us to create army lists).

Here’s my list:

Tudo bem pessoal?

Dito isso começo oficialmente minha participação no “A Tale of X Gamers”.

OMFG. Perfeito.
