Most from Brazil will know me from the Warhammer Brasil forum as Sirron, but people normally call me Caio.
I’m 27 years old and I’m a geological engineer living in the city of Contagem, Minas Gerais, in Brazil. I got into the hobby around 2004 when I watched one of those curiosities television shows showcasing Warhammer, but I didn’t make a coection until a few months ago as I watched another tv show, this time on computer games, showcasing a strategy game with impressive graphics which hooked me on the spot. You can probably tell that was “Dawn of War” and it didn’t take me many google searches to find out the miniature game behind it.
I soon began searching an found the Warhammer Brasil forum finding out there were 40K players in Minas Gerais! At first the biggest obstacle was the financial one and also finding a way to buy the miniatures, but that’s an altogether different story.
I was invited to participate in tis project by Estevao and want to encourage people to assemble and paint their own miniatures.
I’ve chosen the Grey Knights for a number of reasons, the first of them is because they’re Space Marines (and more than half players out there think power armor is one of the coolest things in the game’s universe). They have a color scheme I find easy and quite the opposite of my other army, the Dark Eldar, painted in a dark scab red which is almost black. I also find the Grey Knight’s visual, along that of the Space Wolves, to be one of the most unique amongst Space Marine Chapters and they also boast an arsenal completely different from their brethren in other chapters.
When it comes to the fluff, the background of the army, they’re a chapter created as the Emperor’s last wish, to be the Imperium’s line of defense against the daemonic enities of the Warp, so they possess equipment no other human military segment can have access to. The dark part of these guys is that they’re one of the Inquisition’s military arms, forced to commit heinous acts for the greater good of the Imperium, like decimating entire populations of entire solar systems to avoid the escape of a Daemon, or that the Imperium’s populace finds out about such entities. That’s the part I don’t like about them so, in spite of the new rules favoring psiquic units like Inquisitors, I’ll make a pure Grey Knight army without the aforementioned Inquisitors, using only assassins as different units.
The last factor to take into account, and the one which bears the greatest weight to hobbyists, is the financial one but the Grey Knights are, in my opinion, the cheapest option to put together as they’re a group of elite super soldiers and so the number of purchases one will have to make is quite small.
With a budget of 100 to 150 Reais a month (that’s Brazilian currency which is around 50 to 75 U$D) it is possible to buy a Strike Squad box which comes with 5 soldiers and is one of the most versatile boxes in the game as you can assemble the models as four different unit choices (Strike, Interceptor, Purifier and Purgator Squads), which has led me to a standoff, as I’d have too many bits leftover to make a single kind of unit, so, in order to avoid such waste I have decided to assemble all my soldiers with magnets so I can swap arms and backpacks and save some money in the end.
Aquiring the magnets has been easy as there’s a store in Brazil that sells magnets anywhere in the country, of varied sizes and at reasonable pricing (Koimãs).
My only concern when it comes to putting this army together is obtaining the tanks I’ll need as they will surely exceed my monthly allowance.
I have already purchased a few miniatures buying locally in Brazil, but at first, I’d like to purchase the following boxes:
5 Strike Squad boxes.
3 to 4 Grey Knight Terminator boxes.
1 or 2 Dreadknights.
3 Rhinos.
1 Land Raider.
1 Kaldor Draigo.
1 Castellan Crowe.
1 Vindicare Assassin.
Now all I have to do is start assembling the miniatures that arrive on the post and paint them, avoiding to the fullest to distract myself from the project with my Dark Eldar and the Dark Vengeance box I’ll soon get. I must also hope no work trips come up which will keep me away from the models or I might start taking them along with me.

Opa, e ai moçada!
A maioria já me conhece do fórum pelo nome de Sirron, mas as pessoas me chamam normalmente de Caio!!!
Tenho 27 anos, sou engenheiro geólogo, moro em Contagem, Minas gerais, e entrei no hobby em meados de 2004 vendo na Rede TV um daqueles programas sobre curiosidades que mostrou um dia o Warhammer, mas não havia feito a ligação até uns meses depois. Vendo no G4 Brasil na Band um jogo de estratégia pra PC com um gráfico impressionante e fiquei fissurado em comprá-lo, como já deu pra ver era o Dawn of War, e não demorou muitas “googleadas” para descobrir que era um jogo de miniaturas.
Logo comecei a pesquisar e encontrei o fórum Warhammer Brasil e descobri que existiam jogadores em Minas Gerais! A principio a maior barreira era a monetária e ver como obter miniaturas, mas isto é outra história.
Estou participando deste projeto, por convite do Estevão, para que possa incentivar as pessoas a montar e pintar suas próprias miniaturas.
Escolhi os Grey Knights por vários motivos, o primeiro é por serem Space Marines, (não tem como, mais da metade dos jogadores acha a power armor uma das coisas mais legais do universo do jogo). Eles tem um esquema de cores bem moleza e com um tom mais claro, variando do meu outro exército Dark eldar, que ta num vermelho “casquinha de ferida” tão escuro que parece preto. Também acho o visual dos Grey Knights, ao lado dos Space Wolves, um dos mais diferentes dos Space Marines mais convencionais, e com um arsenal totalmente diferente dos outros capítulos.
Em termos de fluff, a “historinha” do eéercito, eles são um capítulo criado como o último desejo do Imperador, para que sejam a linha de defesa do Imperium contra as forças demoníacas do Warp, então eles possuem equipamentos que nenhum outro segmento militar humano pode ter acesso. Mas a parte negra deles é que eles são um dos braços militares da Inquisição, sendo forçados a cometerem atos horrendos para o bem maior do império, como dizimar populações de sistemas solares inteiros para evitar que um demônio fuja, ou que o povo do Imperium descubra que existem tais entidades. Essa é a parte que eu não gostei, então, apesar das novas regras favorecerem muito unidades psíquicas, como os Inquisidores, eu farei um exercito de Grey Knights puro, sem esses Inquisidores, colocando como unidades diferentes apenas assassinos!
O último fator, e geralmente, o que mais pesa para os jogadores é o financeiro, Grey Knights são, a meu ver, o exército mais barato de montar, já que por serem um grupo de super soldados de elite o número de coisas pra comprar é bem reduzido!
Com um limite de 100 à 150 reais por mês, é possível pegar uma caixa de Strike Squad que vem com cinco soldados e é uma das mais versáteis no jogo, podendo montar quatro tipo diferentes de tropas (Strike, Interceptors, Purifiers e Purgators), o que me levou a um impasse, pois iriam sobrar muitos bits para fazer um tipo de unidade só, então, para solucionar este desperdício, resolvi fazer todos os meus soldados imantados, assim poderia trocar armas e mochilas e salvar uma graninha no fim!
Obter os imãs foi fácil, no Brasil existe uma loja que vende para todo o país imãs de vários tamanhos e por um preço bem acessível. A loja em questão é a Koimãs e para comprar com eles basta enviar um email pedindo um orçamento e agendar a compra!
Minha preocupação quanto à montagem do exército é obter os tanques, que com certeza, vão exceder meu limite mensal!
Já consegui obter umas miniaturas comprando aqui no país mesmo, mas quero obter a principio as seguintes caixas:
5 caixas de strike squads
3 ou 4 de grey knights terminators
1 ou 2 dreadknights
3 rhinos
1 land raider
1 kaldor draigo
1 castellan crowe
1 vindicare assassin
Agora é começar a montar as minis que chegam e pintar, e evitar ao máximo de me distrair do projeto com os meus dark eldars e o dark vengeance que vai chegar, e não aparecer nenhuma viagem de serviço que me faça ficar muito tempo distante das minis, ou passar a levar elas comigo!
