A Tale of “X” Gamers – Space Marines 002.

 

 

Hello again folks!

 

Continuing the series, this month I decided to paint an Assault Squad, to have a melee unit, even in game system favorable to shooting, because I think it’s cool after all. The choice of this unit was also influenced by the lack of time, as I’m still adapting to my new life, and this is taking a lot from my free time. Since it’s a 5 model unit, I managed to work on it easily.

 

As for spending money, this month it was R$117,00 (around U$D 59,00), considering taxes and shipping; which by the way was divided amongst other stuff I got with it. Again, the extra value spent will be deduced later, but for now it is enough to know that I stayed below the R$150,00 cost limit. For us that live here in Brazil it is not worth buying a single item, the best is to avail the same purchase since the shipping cost doesn’t increase with a few extra boxes. If you have the option to share the costs with a friend it’s even better. You won’t spend that much all at once and can still keep the flow of models with no further problems.

For the painting, I used the same scheme from my previous article. Adding to the used colour list (some were missing from the last article), so, for the red I use Mechrite Red from GW, followed by a layer of Purple Red from Acrilex (a local brand). For shading, I use a controlled wash of Black from Decorfix (another local brand), which in the right dilution, can shade red and blue (and grey, and purple). The highlight for red is Macharius Solar Orange and Mithril Silver for metals (both from GW), for black is Lead Grey and for blue is Sky Blue (both from Decorfix).

 

I didn’t mention it before, but the symbols on the shoulder pads are all freehands and in future articles I’m thinking about to giving a few suggestions for this kind of painting.

Olá novamente pessoal!

 

Continuando a série, este mês decidi pintar o Assault Squad, pra ter uma unidade de combate corpo a corpo, mesmo tendo um sistema favorável ao tiro, afinal, é legal. A escolha da unidade também foi influenciada pela falta de tempo… ainda estou me assentando à nova vida, e isso tem tomado muito tempo. Como se trata de uma unidade de 5 modelos, consegui trabalhar nela tranquilamente.

 

Em termos de contas, esse mês ficou em R$117,00 considerando já o imposto e o frete, que, aliás, foi dividido entre outras coisas que peguei junto. Novamente o valor extra gasto será compensado em outro mês, mas basta saber que fiquei abaixo do limite de R$150,00. Pra nós que vivemos aqui no Brasil não vale a pena comprar um único item, o ideal é aproveitar a mesma compra já que o valor do frete não aumenta com algumas poucas caixas a mais. Se você tem a opção de dividir o frete com amigos, ainda melhor. Você não gasta muito de uma vez e ainda pode manter o fluxo de miniaturas periodicamente sem maiores problemas.

 

Para a pintura utilizei o mesmo esquema do artigo anterior. Acrescentando à lista de cores usadas (faltaram algumas mês passado 🙂 ), para o vermelho uso uma camada de Mechrite Red da GW, seguido de uma camada de vermelho púrpura da Acrilex. Para as sombras, uso um wash controlado feito com o preto fosco da Decorfix, que na diluição certa, serve pra sombrear tanto o vermelho como o azul (e roxos, cinzas). O highlight do vermelho é Macharius Solar Orange, das partes metálicas é Mithril Silver (ambos GW), do preto é Cinza Chumbo, do azul é Azul Celeste, ambos da Decorfix (um achado! Antes eu misturava azul e branco e nunca tinha exatamente o mesmo tom usado em modelos anteriores).

 

Não mencionei antes, mas os símbolos nas ombreiras são todos desenhados, em artigos futuros penso em mostrar uma sugestão simples pra esse tipo de pintura.
