A Tale of “X” Gamers – Space Marines 003.

 

 

What’s up folks?

 

This month I planned to build more than one unit, but a regrettable fact in my life put me down so that I had to prioritize other things. My apartment was robbed on November 14^th, and in addition to the shock, I had a colossal financial loss. This project will not be interrupted only because I already possess the models I will use along it.

 

Back on topic, this month I built my HQ, a Captain in Terminator Armor, with Combi-Plasma and a Chainfist. As it is also an expansion to my current Marines army, this will be the captain of the 1^st company. The individual cost of this model was quite low, considering it is 1/5 from the terminators box, it was below R$30,00, which is great for the army’s budget.

 

You will notice that I made some conversions in this model. I used the Combi-Plasma from the finecast model of the Librarian in Terminator Armour, cut off the Stormbolter that usually comes in the terminators’ arm and glued the Combi-Plasma in its place. Inspired by a post in “What’s New Today” blog from GW, the breastplate is a bit from the Venerable Dreadnought kit, cut to fit. The rest are just add-ons that usually come in the Space Marine kits, such as purity seals and the laurel glued on the Chainfist.

 

I also would like to call your attention to the base. A model is far more beautiful if it is on a base that helps to complete a scene or a theme. Even if it is as simple as painted sand, the difference from a model without any detailing is huge. In my case, I used the Adeptus Mechanicus symbol attached to a wall section in the Manufactorum kit. Expensive, but nice.

 

“The captain of the 1^st company, Captain Lykos, is a remarkable warrior with a particular preference for the Terminator armor. He always uses a Chainfist, as it is equally useful to cut through vehicle armor, flesh and bone. He was already quoted as possible successor for Chapter Master, but he made it clear that he doesn’t want such title, for he prefers to continue acting as a captain, since this will keep him in the front lines, crushing any enemies who dares to cross his way.”

E aí pessoal?

 

Esse mês eu planejei fazer mais de uma unidade, mas um revés lamentável em minha vida me desanimou o suficiente para priorizar outras coisas. Meu apartamento foi assaltado no dia 14 de novembro e, além do susto, tive um prejuízo colossal. Esse projeto só não será interrompido porque já estou de posse das miniaturas que usarei ao longo do mesmo.

 

Voltando ao tópico, esse mês fiz o meu HQ, um capitão com armadura de Terminator, Combi-Plasma e Chainfist. Como se trata também da expansão do meu army de Marines, este será o capitão da primeira companhia. O custo individual dessa miniatura foi bem baixo, considerando que é 1/5 da caixa de Terminators, ficou abaixo dos R$30,00, o que é ótimo para o orçamento do army.

 

Vocês irão reparar que fiz algumas conversões neste modelo. Usei o Combi-Plasma que vem no modelo finecast do Librarian em armadura de Terminator, cortei o Stormbolter que normalmente vem no braço dos Terminators e colei o Combi-Plasma. Inspirado em um post no blog “What’s New Today” da GW, a placa peitoral veio de um bit do kit do Venerable Dreadnought, devidamente cortado. O restante são apenas adornos que acompanham normalmente os kits de marines, como selos de pureza e o ramo colado no Chainfist.

 

Quero chamar a atenção também para a base. Uma miniatura fica muito mais bonita se estiver em uma base que ajude a completar uma cena ou um tema. Mesmo se que seja algo tão simples como areia pintada, a diferença em relação a um modelo sem detalhamento algum na base é enorme. No meu caso, utilizei o símbolo do Adeptus Mechanicus que fica na parede do kit do Manufactorum. Dispendioso, mas bonito.

 

 “O capitão da 1ª companhia, Capitão Lykos, é um combatente formidável e que tem uma preferência particular pela armadura de exterminador. Utiliza sempre um punho-serra, pois este é igualmente útil para abrir tanto blindagem como carne e ossos. Ele já foi cotado como possível sucessor para o Mestre do Capítulo, mas já deixou claro que não almeja tal título, pois prefere continuar atuando como capitão, já que assim sempre estará na linha de frente, esmagando quaisquer inimigos que se atrevam a cruzar o seu caminho.”
