This is my one of my final articles about how to collect a 1500 point army for the Warhammer 40.000 game. As I write this article we’re now nearing the end of my participation on this project, but not the end of my Tyranid collection which I think will only grow from now on.
It’s been a while since my last article was published here, and over the course of the last two months I’ve managed to complete the painting for two more units, the Mawloc and three Tyranid Warriors that have been fully magnetized to allow me to field all the weapon options available to them and the possibility of also turning one of them into a Tyranid Prime. In the spur of the moment I’ve also altered the 3 other Warriors I had previously worked on, replacing their Lash Whips with Rending Claws and Scything Talons, which are now also magnetized.

As for the purchase of miniatures I must say that Games Workshop has made life really difficult for people outside the US and the EU, as nowadays we’re only able to purchase directly from GW’s website. Given that GW uses a courier service to deliver our models we get taxed every single time at 100% the package value (the value of the goods + shipping and insurance). There’s now a store in Brazil that has begun importing GW’s products, however, their reputation isn’t good in the wargaming and Board gaming communities (they’re very ill-reputed to say the truth), and not having your products delivered is a common occurrence when purchasing from them.
A viable alternative has been Ebay. I bought my Termagants there, 3 kits of them, but the seller only shipped me one single box of them. The shop I bought from acknowledged their mistake and has shipped me the missing boxes, and now I wait in dread of being taxed. Sadly we went from the “golden era” when we purchased from shops like Maelstrom Games (with free shipping and infrequent taxes) to the dark days we’re living today having a horrible time to get our models.
Complaints apart, I was able to get to the end of the project, so nothing better that a few photos of what I have accomplished in the year and a half.
We begin with the bulk of the army, its troops!
16 Hormagaunts (which I’m seriously thinking about taking their Scything Talons off and gluing some Fleshborers in place to change them into Termagaunts).
16 Termagaunts, 10 of them armed with Devourers (back when I started building the army we still had the Mycetic Spore in the Codex, my idea was to put them inside one, but the Codex has changed and now I have to adapt. I’ll divide them into the “blob” of 30 I need in order to field the Tervigon as a troop).
14 Genestealers and 2 Broodlords (A solid choice, they’re in all of my lists. With the “The Horror” psychic power, that causes a pinning test with a – 2 modifier to the Leadership value, they can charge a pinned troop and attack with their normal initiave. I use them divided in two squads).
6 Tyranid Warriors (another good choice, now that I have removed their Lash Whips. They’ll serve as “objective holders”, I just have to keep them away from the boring strength 8 weapons.

After the army’s mainstay, it’s time for their leaders, the HQ’s
Here we have the Tervigon, a “Flyrant” (a flying Hive Tyrant), Deathleaper and the Tyranid Prime. I’ll use the last two in “for fun” army lists, as the Deathleaper is pretty fun to use. The Flyrant is an obvious choice, don’t leave home without him, and the Tervigon will utilize one of my troop choice slots, but I’ll only field them when I receive my Termagants and they’re properly painted. Perhaps I should have assembled a Tyrannofex instead.
I’ve equipped the Flyrant with twin linked Brainleech Devourers, in order to hunt enemy flyers. It will be a unit more oriented to support.

My Elite choices were pretty straightforward.
I’ve included the Hive Guards are they’re also solid choices and always figure on my lists. The Zoanthropes are pure fun! Level 2 psykers with sinapse and a 3+ invulnerable save. I need one more model to field two 2 man Zoanthrope Squads.

I have two Carnifexes, fully magnetized, one of which I’ll field with crushing claws and both will have barbed stranglers to force the enemy to take some pinning tests.
The Mawloc is one of my favorite models in the collection and it is a good unit to disrupt the enemy forces.

So this is my collection as it stands today. I intend to expand it a little more, purchasing a Haruspex a Hive Crone and perhaps another Carnifex but those lie beyond the scope of this series. I’m also waiting on another 24 termagants and I intend to order another Zoathrope pretty soon which I’ll probably cover on my next article, which will be also my last.
And here are some photos of a game I’ve already played with my Tyranids on the 7th Edition against the Tau from another participant of the AToXG project (Mr. 4irw4lk3r). We didn’t finish the game, but playing Nids against Tau is complicated.

Aqui é o Vitor do blog “Vamos Ver no Pano Verde” com mais um artigo do projeto “A Tale of X Gamers” – AToXG.
Esse é o penúltimo artigo sobre como colecionar 1500 pontos de um exército de Warhammer 40k. Então quase conseguimos chegar ao fim desse projeto, mas não do fim da coleção, que só vai aumentar a partir de agora.
Nesses últimos meses terminei mais duas unidades, o Mawloc e 3 Tyranid Warriors completamente magnetizados, com opções de armas e a possibilidade de transformar um deles no Tyranid Prime. Aproveitei o momento e alterei os outros 3 Warriors que já estavam prontos, substitui os Lash Whips por Rending Claws e Scything Talons, também magnetizados.

Quanto à compra de miniaturas, nesse ultimo ano a GW dificultou bastante a vida do pessoal fora do eixo US-EU, já que agora só podemos comprar diretamente do site deles e como eles enviam apenas por courrier, os valores reais dos produtos são declarados e somos taxados em todos os pedidos, em 100% do valor declarado + frete + seguro. Tem uma loja aqui no Brasil que iniciou a importação dos produtos, porém a reputação deles não é boa (é péssima para falar a verdade), e é comum ao comprar deles que eles não entreguem os produtos (conforme evidenciado aqui).
Uma alternativa ainda a nossa disposição é o Ebay, comprei os Termagants por lá, 3 kits, porém eles só enviaram um deles, e tive todo o transtorno de pedir o reenvio e corro o sério risco de ser taxado pela aduana. Saímos da era de ouro da Maelstrom Games, com frete gratuito e da aduana que raramente taxavam algo para a era negra onde temos que procurar meios escusos para conseguir algumas miniaturas a preço de ouro.
Choradeiras a parte, estou conseguindo chegar ao final do projeto, então nada melhor do que umas fotos do que já foi feito nesse um ano e meio!
Iniciamos com o grosso do exército, que são suas tropas!
16 Hormagaunts, pensando sinceramente em arrancar as Scything Talons e colar uns Flesborers, transformando eles em Termagaunts.
16 Termagaunts, 10 deles armados com Devourers. Na época ainda existiam o Micetic Spore no Codex, e a minha idéia era colocar eles dentro de um, o Codex mudou e agora to com eles aí meio sem função. Acho que vou usar uns 5 no blob de 30 deles, que é necessário para colocar o Tervigon como tropa.
14 Genestealers e 2 Broodlords. Eles são a meu ver uma escolha sólida e estão em todas as minhas listas. Com o poder “The Horror”, que causa um teste de pinning com -2 de Ld, eles podem dar carga em uma tropa pinada e atacar com a iniciativa normal. Uso esses caras em 2 squads.
6 Tyranid Warriors. Eles são outra boa escolha, agora que tirei os Lash Whips. Vão servir como objective holders, só tenho que manter eles afastados dessas armas chatas de força 8

Aqui temos o Tervigon, um “Flyrant” (Hive Tyrant alado), o Deathleaper e o Tyranid Prime. Os dois últimos pretendo usar somente em listas mais “for fun”, o Deathleaper é bem divertido de usar (mas não é tão competitivo). O Flyrant é uma escolha obvia, não saia de casa sem ele! O Tervigon vai utilizar um dos slots de tropa, mas só vou usar eles quando chegarem os Termagaunts e eles tenham sido devidamente pintados. Deveria ter montado o Tyrannofex.
No Flyrant eu estou usando os twin linked Brainleech Devourers, para caçar flyers inimigos. Vai ser uma unidade mais voltada para o suporte.

Os Hive Guards também são escolhas solidas, estão sempre nas minhas listas. Os Zoanthropes são diversão pura! Psykers lvl 2, sinapse e inv 3+. Eu estou precisando de mais um pra montar dois squads com 2 Zoanthropes em cada um.

Heavy:
Estou com dois Carnifexes, completamente magnetizados, um deles vou usar com Crushing Claws, ambos vão estar com o Barbed Strangler para causar pinning test nos inimigos.
O Mawloc é um dos meus modelos favoritos da coleção, e é uma boa unidade de disrupt.

Essa é a coleção atual, mas pretendo expandir um pouco ela, quero comprar um Haruspex, um Hive Crone e talvez mais um Carnifex. Estou esperando chegar os outros 24 Termagaunts, e pretendo encomendar muito logo mais um Zoanthrope.
E logo abaixo segue algumas fotos de uma partida da 7ª edição jogado contra os TAU de outro contribuidor desse blog o Sr. 4irw4lk3r. Não conseguimos terminar a partida, mas jogar de Nid contra TAU é algo muito complicado.
