I will often mention in articles here on the blog and on conversations about the hobby that miniature painting is a skill to be learnt and practiced like any other ability.

 

It should come as no surprise that the internet is today one of the largest repositories of information about pretty much any subject the human mind might be interested in, and miniature painting wouldn’t be the exception to that rule. There’s online forums devoted to the subject, written tutorials published on blogs, video ones uploaded to Youtube, so it is only a matter of sitting down in front of the computer screen and do some research before finding a way to teach yourself that new painting technique.

 

But what should one do if the internet is down and the painting muse has been ringing those bells inside your head? Call me old fashioned but I’m a huge sucker for books. There is some intrinsic form of magic about handling tomes of knowledge, and a very special kind of magic when the book is about miniatures.

Well, it seems that in light of all the recent articles published here, the word on the street is that I don’t paint miniatures.

 

With this blog being called “The Painting Frog” there has indeed been a shortage of painting related articles, something I’ll try to remedy today.

 

One of the things I have been trying whenever I sit down to paint is to step out of my comfort zone, and lately that has meant experimenting with the airbrush. I’ve owned one for a while now and used it with some degree of success in the past to paint a small force of Ultramarines and also on the first of the Saim-Hann Eldar I’ve painted.

We’ll have a quick break on the series of articles chronicling my visit to the city of Nottingham and the wargaming companies based there to see something different today.

 

One the things I have learned over the years is to cherish the little things we take for granted, like well baked bread, popsicles and good quality ice-cream and even potato chips (no wonder why I’m fat right?). Did you ever run out of paint in the middle of a paintjob you were really keen on, so you had to dress up and make a quick trip either to the nearby Games Workshop store or your local friendly game store for that pot of Devlan Mud? Yes, I know you would relate. Ever imagined not having a store nearby to pick up your paint from?

 

What if I told you than when I run out of paint I have to wait MONTHS till I’m able to replace it? Sounds unreal right? Well, that’s the reality of us hobbyists in Brazil, as we have no local GW stores, and almost no existing FLGS carry paint and other hobby articles.
