A Tale of “X” Gamers – Tyranids 012.

We’re here with my last article for the “A tale of X Gamers” series created by the “The Painting Frog” blog.

 

We get now to the end of this journey which has been unfolding for more than a year, during which I collected and painted these figures for the Warhammer 40.000 game. On this last step of the road I have completed the painting process of 36 Termagaunts which I needed in order to properly field the Tervigon without making use of proxies.

As they’re figures expected to live as long as a mosquito I chose to assemble them quickly and to paint them using only the airbrush. When fast assembling them I didn’t remove mold lines as I’d normally do (hope I don’t get my buddy Alex upset about them) and there are some mistakes on the paintjob, as some parts weren’t properly covered up. They still were a lot of work even with the fast approach.

 

I began by fully assembling them (which I believe took me 5 hours of work in multiple sessions) and after that I used Vallejo’s Black Primer.

I waited for 24 hours until the primer was fully dry before applying a coat of Faded Khaki over the entire figure using the airbrush, followed by a coat of Bone applied with the airbrush angled down. After that was dry I applied the green to the carapaces using a color named Olive Drab. I wrapped them up using Hull Red on the weapons followed by a Blood Red Highlight.

 

I didn’t mask any of the figures because as I was trying to paint them up fast, masking them would take way too long. Even if some of the paint got on top of the ones applied before I think the final effect looks pretty good for “tabletop” figures.

After everything was done I applied a highlight using Pale Sand only on the upper parts of the figure. I wrapped up the details using a paintbrush working on the tongues and after that applying a Sepia wash on the figure’s faces.

That’s a lot of Gaunts.

 

 

These figures look harmless with their T3 and 6+ save, but they’ll form a 30 wound fearless unit that Will shoot 50 times during each shooting phase thanks to the 10 models armed with Devourers. And I’m not taking into account the Tervigon spawned models (an average of 30 figures on an average game, so I expect elite units to have a hard time whith them!

 

One other thing I did accomplish was my personal goal of painting 100 figures and (or) terrain in a year. I know painting 36 figures in a single time helped, but it’s numbers that count here!

Olá!

 

Estamos aqui com o ultimo artigo da série “ A Tale of X Gamers” – AToXG, promovido pelo blog The Painting Frog!

 

Chegamos ao final dessa jornada que se desenrolou por mais de um ano, colecionando e pintando essas figuras do jogo Warhammer 40.000. Nessa ultima etapa, eu completei 36 Termagaunts, que eram necessários para eu poder utilizar as habilidades do Tervigon corretamente, nesse caso, sem fazer uso de “Proxies” (modelos usados no lugar de outros).

Como os Termagaunts são figuras que vão ter a expectativa de vida de um mosquito, eu optei por fazer uma montagem rápida e uma pintura utilizando apenas o aerógrafo. Na parte da montagem rápida, eu não fiz a devida remoção das mold lines (Alex, não se irite!) e a pintura contém alguns erros, e algumas partes não foram devidamente cobertas. Mesmo assim, essas figuras me deram muito trabalho.

 

Iniciei montando-as completamente (creio que esse processo deva ter me tomado umas 5 horas de trabalho, divididas em varias sessões), depois disso utilizei primer preto da Vallejo.

Esperei 24hrs pro primer secar completamente, e apliquei Faded Khaki em toda a figura, utilizando aerógrafo. Depois apliquei um highlight de Bone, com o jato do aerógrafo vindo de cima para baixo. Depois disso pronto, apliquei o verde (Olive drab) nas carapaças e após essa cor, apliquei Hull Red nas armas, e fiz um highlight de Blood Red.

 

Eu não utilizei máscara em nenhuma figura, já que a ideia era fazermos a pintura de forma rápida, essa etapa iria tomar muito tempo. Mesmo que uma tinta tenha sujado as outras, o efeito final ficom bem legal pra figuras table top.

 

Começamos a pintar.

Pintura no melhor estilo “linha de montagem”.

 

Depois de tudo pronto, fiz um highlight com Pale Sand, apenas na parte superior da figura. Finalizei os detalhes com pincel, pintando a língua, e logo em seguida, aplicando um wash sépia no rosto das figuras.

 

Então aqui está o resultado final!

“Olha como somos organizados mamãe Tervigon!”

 

São MUITOS Gaunts.

 

Essas figuras parecem inofensivas com seu T3 (Toughness/resistência) e save 6+, mas vão trazer uma unidade de 30 wounds, fearless e que terão 50 tiros em sua shooting phase, graças aos 10 modelos que vão ter Devourers. Sem contar que o Tervigon vai spawnar em média mais 30 figuras. Unidades de elite vão passar bastante trabalho com eles!

 

Outra coisa que consegui fazer foi alcançar minha meta anual de pintar 100 figuras ou terrenos em um ano, tudo bem que pintar rápido 36 figuras em uma tacada só ajuda, mas aqui o que vale são os números!
