Olá Leitor.

Hello Reader!

If you’re already following the blog’s social media channels, you’ve probably seen our note about Games Workshop getting distributed in Brazil again as it was published back in January on our Facebook page (if you haven’t yet, like our page there to keep up to date with our news).

So after publishing snippets for a while I felt it was high time I put all this information together on an article here on the “The Painting Frog” blog. This is actually the second time I put pen to paper (actually fingers to the keyboard) to write about Games Workshop’s products being made available in Brazil by means of a local importer and distributor, in yet another chapter in the relationship between GW and the local hobby community devoted to the company’s games.

Hello Reader!

This is the Portuguese version of the article published here yesterday about Mantic’s newest Kickstarter campaign to fund the “Dungeon Saga: The Dwarf King’s Quest” game. Do check it out if you missed it and if you fancy vanquishing the forces of evil while killing monsters and plundering a dungeon please give a look into the Kickstarter campaign.

Over and out.

Hello Reader!

“Stay a while and listen”… yep I could begin today’s article quoting Deckard Cain’s famous words as I believe you’re about to join me in an incredible adventure after hearing reading what I have to say today. I’ve already drunk the Kool-Aid when it comes to Mantic Games’ newest project on Kickstarter, “Dungeon Saga: The Dwarf King’s Quest”, so you might as well join me in a quest for high adventure (cue in the “Anvil of Crom” theme).

Hello Reader!

I’ve recently published here on the blog an article about last year’s Bones Miniatures campaign which was successfully run by Reaper Miniatures on Kickstarter.

That article crowned the one year period during which I and a lot of other backers around the globe sat waiting for Reaper Miniatures to fulfill their part of the crowdfunding deal, and man they didn’t disappoint.

My reaction when finally opening that package, quite literally a birthday gift as I opened it a day after my birthday on August 24th was recorded and shared with my readers on that article and on Youtube and according to a friend it was a picture of happiness other hobbyists could relate to.

Hello fellow Reader.

“If you haven’t been living under a rock” is such a cliché to begin writing an article such as this that I’m quite tempted to avoid using it. I’ll go with “if you haven’t been living in a cave” instead.

So if you Reader haven’t been living in a cave for the past couple of years you’ll have probably heard about Kickstarter by now. If you’re still unaware of it let me shed some light onto this mysterious name: Kickstarter is a crowdfunding tool available to anyone with a nice project and the will to be an entrepreneur, but who lacks the funds to finance said project. As the name implies the “crowd”, normally us in the internet (and probably the people your project is aimed at), will provide the funds if your project is tempting enough (with nice prices, stretch goals and free stuff some would say).

Hello there.

I often mention the ReLOAD channel on Youtube. Owned by a good friend of mine ReLOAD is Brazil’s first wargaming channel on Youtube and has since its modest origins grown in size and content and now they’re holding their first contest, offering you not only the chance to be featured on their channel, but also a prize!

In order to participate all you’ll have to do is send in pictures (from 10 to 15 photos) or a quick video (no longer than a minute) of whatever miniatures you have painted as of late. The idea is to showcase your work and according to them ANYTHING GOES as long as you have painted it yourself (and yes, you can participate in it even if you live outside Brazil and doesn’t speak Portuguese).

Hello Reader.

This is the Portuguese version of the “Catwalk Set” scenery kit’s review published earlier today here on the blog. Please check that out if you missed it as it’s a GREAT scenery piece by Micro Art Studio.

Over and out.

Hello there Reader.

One thing I’ve been trying to do a  lot more with the blog lately is reviewing and showcasing different options in the miniature war gaming market to the Brazilian community and the blog’s audience. As you probably know it’s been increasingly difficult to get hold of GW products down here in Brazil (and pretty much everywhere else in the world where GW doesn’t have a presence or retailers carrying their products) and we’ve been purchasing our hobby supplies from other companies in the market.

The art of scenery making has taken a few blows since GW and other companies have begun making top quality scenery pieces and lately I’ve been fascinated with laser cut MDF scenery pieces as it seems there are a lot of options out there in the market today.

Hello there Reader.

I’m quite often asked how one should begin in the hobby of miniature painting. The answer couldn’t be simpler: Buy some miniatures, good paints and a good brush and start painting. It’s really that simple.

Miniature painting, like any other skill, is an ability which we’ll develop over time with a lot of study and practice.

Hello there Reader.

Ever since I first talked about the first GW perpetrated Embargo I expressed an interest in exploring other wargaming options out there in the market, not because of some sudden “anti-Games Workshop rage” but simply because buying the models for what was my favorite gaming system was getting too difficult.

Well to add insult to injury it has recently transpired that from the 15th of June onwards I will no longer be able to purchase from my favorite online stores based on the United States or Canada as GW has once more seem fit to prohibit stores carrying their products to sell outside their countries (they won’t even be able to sell online).

It should come as no surprise to you then that my efforts in locating other nice wargaming systems have been doubled and in that search I’ve come across what promises to be a small gem in the making: Deadzone.
