Puxa, parece que faz um século que tento publicar esse post aqui no blog. Eu já havia postado alguns artigos por aqui com vídeos, mas me ative a republicar conteúdo de terceiros que entendi serem pertinentes ao tema do blog (como no caso dos episódios do Vlog ReLOAD) ou no máximo fiz pequenas edições e adicionei legendas em alguns vídeos para aumentar a exposição dos mesmos adequando-os à audiência aqui do blog (caso dos demais vídeos disponíveis em nosso canal).

 

Fato é que eu vinha pensando em uma maneira de criar conteúdo inédito para o blog usando essa “nova” ferramenta que é o vídeo e fico muito feliz em publicar hoje o primeiro vídeo com conteúdo original do blog “The Painting Frog”.

 

Como parte da experiência de explorar um novo sistema de wargame e registrar todo o processo aqui no blog, eu decidi gravar um vídeo compartilhando com vocês a experiência de abrir minhas primeiras caixas com miniaturas para o Infinity,um “unboxing”, bastante comum hoje em dia, mas acredito que o primeiro em português (uma caixa de inicio de Yu Jing e outra de Ordens Militares para PanOceania).

 

O vídeo foi gravado em português, mas conta com legendas em inglês de forma a torná-lo acessível para uma parcela significativa de visitantes aqui do blog. Acho importante frisar que não sou um profissional no universo das miniaturas, e com isso quero dizer que não tenho uma empresa que lide com isso e que não ganho um único centavo com esse hobby. Sou um hobbyista mediano como você e outros tantos frequentadores deste blog compartilhando com você Leitor minhas ideias e impressões (que são tão somente isso, minhas ideias e impressões e de maneira nenhuma são imutáveis ou corretas… sou bem propenso a mudar de ideia. Uma metamorfose ambulante).

Infinity Unboxing – English version.

 

Hello Reader.

 

Well, I’ve been meaning to publish this post for a while now but using video as a new media is something new to me and working out the kinks until I was satisfied with the final product did take me a while. Having a computer crash in the meantime didn’t help a bit as well.

 

But all that is now in the past and I’m extremely happy to publish today “The Painting Frog” blog’s first original content video. As a part of the ongoing experience of learning a new gaming system and chronicling my steps along the way I decided to record a video sharing the experience of opening my first Infinity miniature boxes (a Yu Jing starter box and a PanOceania Military Order starter box).

 

The video has been recorded in Portuguese but English subtitles are provided for your convenience. Bear in mind I’m no pro when it comes to the miniature wargaming world and by that I mean I have no miniature related company, and make no money out of this hobby. I’m and average hobbyist pretty much like you or the guy from you FLGS simply sharing my thoughts with you Reader and that’s just what they are, my thoughts and ideas (and they’re in no way final or set in stone… I’m prone to changes I guess).

Infinity – Background video.

 

Hello Reader.

 

Today we’re back to the Infinity subject. You can probably tell  I’m rather enraptured by this game as of late and, as I believe my efforts show, have been giving it a lot of attention.

 

I’m still working on adding subtitles to the videos originally published in English by Corvus Belli as I think that’s bound to generate even more interest on this game here if people understand what the videos are about as, unfortunately, not everyone speaks English in Brazil.

 

This time I worked on the background videos which were originally published in several small chapters, however I’m working with a single video which features the background of all available factions in this game.

 

As I have already mentioned on my article featuring my initial impressions about the game, what’s really nice about the game’s background is that it portrays a future we can all relate to as it is essentially our own world’s a hundred and seventy five years from now, making the game’s story more palpable so to speak.

 

So if you missed them the first time they were published and would like to watch them without Portuguese subtitles I strongly recommend you check Corvus Belli’s channel on Youtube (there’s nine background videos in there thus far). If you don’t mind the subtitles scroll down a bit for the video.

De volta ao Infinity, temos hoje, devidamente legendado para o português, o vídeo que aborda o background do jogo.

 

Como eu já havia mencionado em meu primeiro artigo sobre o jogo acredito que o background do mesmo tenha como grande atrativo o fato de ser bastante próximo de nós posto que trata-se do nosso mundo daqui a algumas centenas de anos permitindo assim um interessante vislumbre de como estarão o planeta terra e suas nações quando finamente alcançarmos as estrelas e estivermos ameaçados por uma terrível ameaça alienígena.

 

Não é difícil assim para um jogador brasileiro tentar colecionar um exército que represente as forças de seu país nesse futuro (que estão integradas e a serviço de PanOceania) ou para um jogador francês representar seus compatriotas futurísticos com miniaturas merovíngias de Ariadna.

 

O vídeo em si é bastante sucinto e dá uma boa idéia para os interessados no jogo acerca da história e motivações de cada uma das facções do jogo. Embora mais longo do que na forma como foi originalmente publicado (dividido em nove capítulos no canal do Youtube da Corvus Belli) entendi ser melhor manter o vídeo intacto não só de forma a respeitar o formato em que recebi o material para ser traduzido, mas também para apresentar de uma única vez o rico background do jogo.

Infinity Rules Tutorial – Modifiers.

Been a while right? Well it seems everything has been conspiring against me when it comes to updating the blog and sharing stuff with you. I’m still on a strong Infinity vibe here as I continue to work on adding subtitles to the videos I have received and I am still working on a first batch of Infinity models with which I intend to start showcasing the game here and continue sharing my impressions about it with you.

 

“So why haven’t we heard from you in a while?” you might ask, well at first Youtube was giving me a very hard time to upload the videos I had already done to it, but now, to add insult to injury my PC has decided 4 years was a pretty long time of service and crashed on me. As I live on a pretty remote area I don’t feel confident taking the computer to local technicians as I’m really dreading losing all the files I have stored in it, so I’ll probably get it fixed sometime next week (and perhaps I’ll look into purchasing another more recent and up to date computer system. We’ll see).

 

Not wanting to slack too much here on “The Painting Frog” I’ve scavenged a usable notebook which should suffice for my internet needs until next week. Again, we’ll see.

 

So, after this preamble I should get to today’s post, which is another Infinity video I have added Portuguese subtitles to. This time the video offers us an explanation of how modifiers influence the Infinity game, and how tactically important they are in it.

Salve Leitor.

 

Poxa demorou, mas finalmente consegui sentar-me para atualizar o blog. Não tava com preguiça, nem passando por uma crise de inspiração. Longe disso.

 

Posso dizer que faz muito tempo que não tenho tanto gás em relação ao hobby e para escrever sobre ele aqui no blog. Dessa vez o universo, mais especificamente a internet, andou conspirando para que eu não conseguisse atualizar o “The painting Frog”.

 

Primeiro foi a tremenda dor de cabeça que andei tendo para subir os vídeos para o Youtube, e quando finalmente consegui subir os vídeos o meu PC, após 4 anos de serviços prestados, resolveu que tinha trabalhado demais e me abandonou.

 

Como alguns leitores devem saber eu não moro, me escondo, e sendo assim estou meio receoso de levar o computador pros “técnicos de informática” locais com medo de perder todos os meus dados, por isso devo arrumar o computador (ou quiçá comprar um novo) somente na semana que vem, mas para não deixar o blog às moscas até lá acabei colocando em serviço um note quebra galho.

 

Bom, o vídeo de hoje está pronto já tem uns dias e, como nos vídeos anteriormente publicados sobre o jogo Infinity (se você os perdeu pode conferir o primeiro deles, sobre Ordens, aqui e o segundo, sobre as rolagens de dado no jogo, aqui) , ele detalha uma vez mais um aspecto das regras básicas do jogo: Modificadores.

 

Pra quem joga RPG ou alguns outros wargames o conceito de modificadores não é nenhuma novidade. Basicamente o uso dos modificadores implica em algumas ações no jogo sendo facilitadas ou dificultada dependendo das circunstâncias na mesa de jogo.

 

No Infinity o uso dos modificadores é bastante elegante, e simples, e acaba criando um jogo extremamente tático à medida que os jogadores buscam alcançar as posições mais vantajosas no campo de batalha para não só facilitar as ações que querem executar mas também dificultar as respostas do inimigo.

Infinity Rules Tutorial – Rolls.

Hello there.

 

Today I’m sharing with the readers here on the blog the second Infinity video I’ve subtitled in Portuguese. This video deals with the mechanics of the rolls in this game, specially the so called “face to face” rolls which happen quite often in the game as a result of the innovative ARO mechanic. Both of these are in grand part responsible for the “It’s always your turn” slogan with which the game is marketed as they’re the ones responsible for making you focus on the game for its entire length.

Eu trago hoje o segundo episódio da sequência de vídeos de Infinity que explica as regras e mecânicas peculiares desse jogo (se você perdeu o primeiro vídeo pode encontrá-lo aqui).

 

Este vídeo detalha o modo como são resolvidas as rolagens de dado no jogo, em especial as rolagens “face to face” (ou cara a cara, em nossa tradução livre) onde as rolagens de dado dos jogadores são confrontadas para decidir o desenrolar de uma ação. Esse mecânica juntamente com a inovadora mecânica do ARO (Automatic Reaction Order – Ordem de Reação Automática) é em grande parte responsável pelo slogan “It’s always your turn!” (É sempre o seu turno) empregado na divulgação do jogo já que ela faz com que o interesse dos jogadores esteja focado todo o tempo na partida.

Infinity Rules Tutorial – Orders.

As I have already mentioned here the Embargo put in place by GW did have the beneficial effect of opening my eyes to the wider universe or wargaming and from the very beginning the Infinity game has been in my sights.

 

I have already shared my initial impressions about the game here and haven’t stopped exploring it since. Thus far I’ve been doing a lot of reading as well as some preparation work on a few models (more on that soon, I hope) and one thing I’ve been working on is translating the Infinity videos made by Corvus Belli into Portuguese (with due permission by the aforementioned company).

 

You see, there’s a wealth of information about wargaming in English out there on the internet but very little content in Portuguese, specially about Infinity, and one of my objectives here at the “The Painting Frog” blog is bridging the information gaps and making content available to the local Brazilian community as well as to any Portuguese speaking wargamers out there in the wide world.

Se você acompanha o blog deve saber que uma das minhas metas para este ano é explorar novas opções de jogos de estratégia militar (Wargames de repente ficou bem mais simples). A idéia é diversificar as opções e explorar toda a diversidade existente no mercado sem ficar eternamente atrelado aos jogos mais populares (leia-se jogos da GW).

 

Desde o inicio um jogo despontou na dianteira na disputa pela minha preferência, o Infinity, produzido pela Corvus Belli e com uma fantástica ambientação futurista. Eu já compartilhei por aqui minhas primeiras impressões sobre o jogo e desde então tenho explorado as possibilidades desse novo wargame, dando uma lida nas regras e começando os preparativos para trabalhar nas primeiras miniaturas.

 

Desde o inicio do blog um de meus objetivos tem sido trazer para a comunidade brasileira conteúdo do hobby em nossa língua nativa e com esse intuito entrei em contato com a Corvus Belli e obtive a permissão deles para fazer a legendagem em português dos vídeo-tutoriais sobre as regras do Infinity originalmente publicados no Youtube. Embora esses vídeos tivessem sido publicados em inglês e espanhol acredito que as legendas em português serão úteis em apresentar esse jogo para uma parcela da comunidade que não domina esses idiomas.

 

Assim, trago hoje o primeiro deles que detalha algumas mecânicas básicas do jogo, e em especial o sistema de “Ordens”, fundamental para o desenvolvimento das partidas de Infinity.

 

 

Espero que o vídeo legendado tenha contribuído para uma melhor compreensão do jogo. Em breve teremos aqui os demais vídeos sobre as regras do jogo devidamente legendados em português.
