Hello Reader.

The Rumble in the Jungle event was born from an idea that always seemed rather far fetched to me: organizing a wargaming tournament where I lived.

Today, after the most recent edition of the “Rumble in the Jungle” the idea might not sound so out of place, but back then when it first occured to me it was difficult to believe that anyone would come to Cuiabá (the capital city  of the State of Mato Grosso, pretty far from the main city centers in Brazil) to play a wargaming event, especially twice. I couldn’t be happier to be proved wrong

Hello Reader.

Preparations for the second Rumble in the Jungle event “Rumble in the Jungle II – The Mission” are well underway as me and my friends in the “Clube Cuiabano de Wargames and Boardgames” (CCWB – our local war gaming and board gaming club) continue to work on the new projects we’ll feature this year to welcome the participants for another weekend of gaming and fun.

As the event’s date draws ever nearer (it will happen in the 23rd and 24th of July 2016 in the city of Cuiaba in Brazil) it’s inevitable to look back and remember how enjoyable and rewarding it was to host the event and gather friend around the cherished hobbies of war gaming and board gaming.

Salve Leitor!

Os preparativos para o “Rumble in the Jungle II – A Missão” continuam a todo vapor.

Hello Reader!

Playing miniature games is always our escuse to meet, so, as usual, with Marcos coming to visit Brazil it was high time we organized something to get together with our friends in Sao Paulo and play a couple games.

Last time we had Marcos around we held the 1st PAPOCON, the first meeting from the do Papo de Mesa Podcast (the podcast me and Marcos host) held at the “Clube Paulista de Wargames” (the Sao Paulo wargaming club), so it was natural to think about holding the 2nd PAPOCON this time… but the hard truth is that the podcast isn’t being published as often as we’d like as we’re struggling to find the time to record and edit new episodes, so calling this meeting a PAPOCON was almost like salting our own wounds .

Hello There!

Hobby related events down here in Brazil are few and usually really spaced in between so it’s not always that I have something to tell you guys out there about.

One would think that wouldn’t be the case with GW having set foot in Brazil a while ago but so far that hasn’t proven right as no events have been put forth by its local representative/distributor other than some small events showcasing the hobby. There have been no events aimed at the established community so far, but that was kind of expected (more on that on the future).

Well the community down here has thrived over the years solely on the efforts of fellow hobbyists and that’s what I have to report to you guys out there today.

If you happen to be in Brazil this month I believe it’ll be worth your time checking the “Iº Encontro de Wargames, TCG’s e RPG de Ourinhos” (First Wargaming, TCG and RPG encounter of Ourinhos) in Ourinhos/ São Paulo which will be held by a local club of hobbyists (The SWC – Streem Wargames Club) on the 15th and 16th of November.

The event will not only sport a LoTR tournament but also have Warhammer 40.000 demo tables and a miniature showcase showing models painted by the artist of a local painting studio. All in all great weekend activity if you ask me.

In case you’re tempted to attend Ourinhos is easily reachable from the capital city São Paulo (it’s a, roughly, 4 hour journey to cover the 370km which separate the two cities) by car or bus. Just leave me a comment if you need any help getting there.

Cheers and see you around soon!
