Hello Reader.

Preparations for the “Rumble in the Jungle II – A Missão” continue very much like the series of famous Hollywood movies: Fast and furious.

In between all the miriad things involved in running a tournament I also took the time to work on some new scenery pieces to dress our tables for the event. If you’re following our Facebook page or our Instagram account you’ve probably seen a sneak peek of what we’ve been working on, and because of the photos we’ve published on the aforementioned social media outlets, we have received a few requests to share how we went about weathering some of the scenery pieces we’ve been working on.

Hello folks!

Finally, we get to the last article in this series! I admit I am a little late, but that’s not without reason. My studies, mostly, demanded a great share of my time and I couldn’t leave this aside. When the texts and seminars were done, I could get back to the hobby.

The last unit added to the army is another Tactical Squad, with a lascannon and a graviton gun as special weapons, and with a plasma pistol for the sergeant. The unit was build around the marines from the Assault on Black Reach boxed set, with the lascannon being a leftover from the Devastators box and the graviton gun a bit purchased in separate, as were the parts I needed for the rest of the unit, such as the legs.

Hey folks!

The end of the “A Tale of X Gamers” project is approaching, at least for me! This month, my chosen unit was one of Terminators. I chose an assault configuration for two reasons, first because I didn’t have a unit like this yet, and also because some old fashioned hard hitting can be fun. I imagine a futuristic scene full of technology and firearms, and suddenly a highly protected enemy armour is opened by brutal hammer blows.

I also chose the Terminators because of their ability to enter the game by teleporting in, being deployed behind enemy lines and causing a lot of destruction. And in games where Deep Strike is forbidden, they count with enough protection to withstand the most part of enemy fire unharmed until they get where they’re needed. I used the thunderhammer and stormshield option because I intend to use them to bring down both characters and vehicles.

Hello folks!

We’re almost at the end of the challenge. In my last article, I mentioned some changes that some units had to undergo after the release of the actual Codex Space Marines. This month was dedicated for one of them: The Devastator Squad.

The Box of Devastators was bought some time ago, for the first article of this series. In this box there’s only a single missile launcher, so I needed 3 more in order to complete the squad as I wanted to field it. It wasn’t hard to get the bits for the rest of the unit as each Tactical Squad box also has a missile launcher, and since I already had two of those boxes, I got two more missile launchers from them. The last one I got from the Space Marines set from the old box of the Battle for Macragge, for about US$10,00. It is also from this set that I got the other 5 Space Marines I needed to complete the squad making it a 10 man unit. So, this month’s total cost was only US$10,00.

Hello folks!

Another month, another model finished. I’m almost in the end, and reaching this point gives me an extra boost to try harder to finish everything as soon as possible (that, and a few new models in line that I want to work at after I finish this army).

In my last article, I said my former 2000 points list had become a 1901 points list with the new Codex: Space Marines. I had to redo it, but without altering the units that were already done. The modifications were as follows:

Hello folks!

It’s been a while, right? Over the course of the last months I was very busy taking care of my personal life, while also working on some projects different from this. I’m studying again (for an inorganic chemistry doctorate degree), and this will consume part of my free time for the next few years, and when it comes to our hobby, big changes in our routine take away all the time you dedicate to the hobby until you find a way to fit the hobby back into the new routine includes and you re-adapt to it. It’s a slow process, but everything fits in the end.

Since the last article, a new Codex: Space Marines was released. Obviously I had to get a copy, read it, and check the army list’s points. Aparently my former 2000 points list is now a 1901 point list and I haven’t decided yet what to do with these extra 99 points, but I’ll do that while a I work in the units I am sure I won’t change.

Hello folks!

Real life has been charging its price lately, leaving me very little free time to keep building my army, but I managed to organize myself a schedule and paint one more unit: another tactical squad.

Something I noticed, that indeed happens, is that as you gain more and more practice, not only with painting, but also your color scheme, you will begin to paint faster. The ideal sequence and places to paint first comes naturally after a while.

In an earlier article I wrote about about showing how to draw freehand designs on your miniatures. Below I describe a simple sequence that serves as a guide to almost anything you want do draw on a miniature. And it doesn´t need to be anything complex, it can be as simple as an arrow for a tactical squad or a written number for squad marking, or more elaborate designs. I´m not an expert about this, but here I share the recipe that serves me well enough.

What´s up!

One more month, one more unit. Like last month, I´m getting the new stuff that showed up in the sixth edition, and this time I got a Fortification. An Aegis Defense Line with Icarus Lascannon.

I read much about the quadgun as being better, but the points limit let me choose only the lascannon, besides, with BS 4 I got more chances to get a hit with its single shot, which has S 9 and can do some serious damage to my enemies’ armor or flyers.
